Coaching is a powerful tool that increases confidence, builds resilience, capability and inner resource. The power of the coaching pledge is that it enables women to access coaching at any point in their career, free of charge, at a time to suit and to meet their specific needs. We are currently seeking to recruit new coaches to support with the delivery of this coaching pledge. Coaches will have access to free training through the network.
If you’re a leader in education and you want to help more women to become leaders, pledge to coach. Coaching has the potential to transform the leadership journey of women teachers.
Coaching has the power to increase confidence, unlock potential and build resilience. It is flexible, bespoke and specific to need.
We know that as a leader you already make an enormous contribution to the education system, but this is a great opportunity to help more women progress into leadership roles. Pledge to coach is one of the measures announced by government to support women in teaching.
The School Workforce Census shows that 66% of headteachers are female (compared to 74% of all classroom teachers), meaning that women are under-represented in leadership positions.
In the latest available data (2016):
The DfE coaching pledge invites all current leaders to make a voluntary pledge to coach aspiring female leaders.
The DfE's ambition is to have 1,000 pledges so that 1,000 women aspirant leaders are supported through coaching. We need you to volunteer your time, expertise and passion to make this happen.
